    Consumer Reports Web Watch is a grant-funded project of Consumers Union, the non-profit publisher of Consumer Reports magazine and Consumerreports.org. Through research, the promotion of guidelines for best practices and other means, they seek to improve the credibility of content on the World Wide Web.
  • European Network on Information Literacy
    The goal of this Network is to open a discourse on Information Literacy in the European Union to promote the establishment of a Culture of Information in Europe.
  • Global Digital Literacy Council
    The Global Digital Literacy Council serves as the preeminent advisory body and as an authoritative voice on issues driving the development and implementation of global digital literacy standards and systems.
  • Information Literacy Section – International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions
    Formerly the User Education Roundtable, this section became the Information Literacy Section in 2002 because of the increasing interest in information activities worldwide. The goal of this section is to foster international cooperation in the development of information skills education in all types of libraries. It focuses on all aspects of information literacy including user education, learning styles, the use of computers and media in teaching and learning, networked resources, partnerships with teaching faculty in the development of instructional programs, distance education, and the training of librarians in teaching information and technical skills.
  • Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT)
    Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) is a roundtable of the American Library Association and advocates library instruction as a means for developing competent library and information use as a part of lifelong learning. LIRT membership represents all types of libraries (academic, public, school, and special) committed to this goal.
  • National Forum on Information Literacy
    The Forum pursues activities in four primary areas. Through its member organizations, the Forum examines the role of information in our lives and integrates information literacy into their programs. It also supports, initiates, and monitors information literacy projects both in the United States and abroad. NFIL actively encourages the creation and adoption of information literacy guidelines by such regulatory bodies as state departments of education, commissions on higher education, and academic governing boards. And finally, it works with teacher education programs to insure that new teachers are able to incorporate information literacy into their teaching.
  • World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)
    The World Summit on the Information Society is primarily organized by the International Telecommunication Union, a specialized agency of the United Nations. It is held in two phases. The first phase of WSIS took place in Geneva, Switzerland from 10 to 12 December 2003. The second phase will be held in Tunis, Tunisia from 16 to 18 2005, to implement the agenda leading up to achievable targets by 2015.
